1. Product Description

The M5x12 copper-plated steel capacitor discharge (CD) weld stud is a precision-engineered threaded fastener designed for rapid, reliable attachment to thin-gauge metal sheets using the capacitor discharge welding process. This stud features a standard M5 metric thread with a nominal length of 12 mm (overall length range available from 15 mm to 100 mm per customer requirements), making it ideal for applications requiring a secure threaded connection without pre-drilled holes or back-side access.

Manufactured from high-quality low-carbon steel with a copper electroplated finish, the stud offers excellent electrical conductivity for stable CD welding and moderate corrosion resistance. The flanged base conforms to EN ISO 13918, with a flange diameter of 6.5 mm and a typical flange thickness of 0.8–1.4 mm. The stud is designed for tip ignition CD welding, completing the weld in milliseconds and leaving minimal heat marks on the reverse side of the workpiece.
