The Challenge

Security infrastructure for law enforcement facilities demands zero-tolerance for breaches. This Paris police station faced a critical vulnerability: an irregular hexagonal skylight posed a potential escape route. The challenge was to engineer a barrier that provided maximum security against climbing and cutting while conforming to the complex geometry of the opening—all without compromising the building's aesthetic integrity.

Our Solution

We engineered a comprehensive security mesh system utilizing marine-grade 316 stainless steel, selected for its superior corrosion resistance and high tensile strength. To address the unique architectural requirements, we implemented a tiered structural approach:

  • Mesh Specification:​ We utilized a 1.5mm diameter wire rope​ woven into a 30mm x 50mm​ aperture. This specific mesh size prevents footholds, effectively deterring climbing, while the high-tensile construction resists cutting attempts.
  • Structural Framework:​ Given the 11-meter height of the installation and the irregular shape of the skylight, standard framing was insufficient. We designed a robust perimeter framework using 6mm diameter stainless steel cables​ as primary support pillars. This provided the necessary tension and structural integrity to span the large area securely.
  • Seamless Integration:​ To ensure there were no weak points between panels, we reinforced the joints and covered gaps using 3mm diameter stainless steel cables. This created a continuous, monolithic barrier surface.
