1. Product Description

The 304 Stainless Steel Bow Shackle with Safety Bolt Pin is a high‑strength, corrosion‑resistant lifting and rigging component designed for marine environments, construction hoisting, and webnet (stainless steel safety net) tensioning. Manufactured from premium AISI 304 stainless steel via drop forging, this bow shackle features a polished surface and a safety bolt pin (threaded pin with nut and cotter pin) for secure locking, preventing accidental loosening under vibration or dynamic loads.

The bow (anchor) shape provides a wider radius than D‑shackles, allowing it to accept multiple sling legs, larger shackles, or rope eyes without pinching. The shackle is 100% load tested and available in imperial sizes from 3/16″ to 1″ (metric equivalents from 6.25 mm to 28.57 mm), with breaking loads ranging from 1,250 kg to 23,000 kg (2,760 lbs to 50,700 lbs). It is fully customizable in size, length, width, packaging, logo, and surface finish. Free samples are supported.

5. Technical Principles

5.1 Material & Forging

AISI 304 stainless steel provides good tensile strength (approx. 515 MPa yield) and excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion in most atmospheric and marine environments. Drop forging aligns the grain structure, eliminating porosity and increasing fatigue resistance. The bow geometry distributes tensile forces uniformly along the curved body, minimizing stress risers at the pin holes.

5.2 Safety Factor

Shackles are designed with a typical safety factor of 4:1 or 5:1 between breaking load and working load limit (WLL). Users must never exceed the WLL and should consider dynamic loads, angle of pull, and wear.

5.3 Safety Bolt Pin Mechanism

The safety bolt pin consists of a threaded pin, a nut, and a cotter pin. After inserting the pin, the nut is tightened and the cotter pin is inserted through a hole in the pin end and bent to lock. This prevents the nut from backing off under vibration, making it ideal for marine and dynamic lifting applications where standard screw pins might loosen.

5.4 Corrosion Resistance

304 stainless steel forms a passive chromium oxide layer that protects against rust. In saltwater or high‑chloride environments, regular rinsing or upgrading to 316 stainless steel is recommended for extended service life.

5.5 Load Testing & Traceability

Each shackle is proof‑loaded to 100% of its rated breaking load. Permanent markings (size, grade, and sometimes load rating) are stamped on the body for traceability.
